Lavender Sage Tea

Well, it's a dreary winter Monday here in Idaho and with a long work week ahead, I'm thinking copious amounts of hot tea is a must! Let's unwind and rejuvenate with a soothing cup of lavender sage infused tea. This fragrant herbal blend offers a delightful combination of calming lavender and earthy sage, creating a beverage that not only tantalizes the taste buds but also nurtures the soul. Sounds perfect, doesn't it? This recipe calls for dried herbs but if you have access to fresh ones, go for it! Note that dried herbs are concentrated so when using fresh herbs for tea, I recommend using about 3X the amount. Adjust to personal preferences and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds

  • 1 tablespoon dried sage leaves

  • 2 cups water

  • Honey or agave syrup (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Start by bringing 2 cups of water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan.

  2. Once the water reaches a boil, remove it from the heat and add the dried lavender buds and sage leaves to the saucepan.

  3. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the herbs steep for 5-10 minutes, depending on your desired strength of flavor.

  4. Strain the infused tea into your favorite mug or teapot, discarding the spent herbs.

  5. If desired, sweeten the tea with honey or agave syrup to taste.

  6. Allow the tea to cool slightly before sipping and savoring the delicate flavors.

The Benefits:

  • Calming Properties: Lavender is renowned for its relaxing effects on the mind and body, helping to reduce stress and promote feelings of tranquility.

  • Digestive Support: Sage contains compounds that can aid in digestion and soothe an upset stomach, making it an excellent choice for after-dinner sipping.

  • Antioxidant-Rich: Both lavender and sage are rich in antioxidants, which help to combat free radicals in the body and promote overall health and well-being.

Tips for Enjoyment:

  • Pair your lavender sage tea with a light snack or dessert for a delightful afternoon treat.

  • Experiment with different variations by adding a splash of lemon juice or a sprig of fresh mint for an extra burst of flavor.

  • Take a moment to savor each sip mindfully, allowing yourself to fully immerse in the soothing experience.

Incorporating lavender sage infused tea into your daily routine is a simple yet effective way to nourish your body and nurture your spirit. So why not take a moment to slow down, sip slowly, and savor the serenity? Your mind, body, and taste buds will thank you for it.
